What is a live auction?

A live auction is almost the same as a traditional auction under the gavel, except that it takes place online and a computer acts as the auctioneer. Just as usual, bidders outbid each other in real time, but everything happens on a computer, tablet or smartphone.

As usual, you can place advance bids on our auction site until the auction starts at 12:00. Bidding then continues online. This means you need to take part live to be sure of winning the lot(s) you are interested in.

Around 250 lots are sold per hour, but it can go both slower and faster depending on how many people are bidding!

We cannot offer telephone bidding at these auctions.

Whether you want to place advance bids online or take part in the live bidding, you need to register as a customer and log in.

How it works

Log in here on the site with your customer number or e-mail address and your password. Via Login you can also register a new account or get help if you have forgotten your password.

Once you are logged in, you have access to My pages (contact details, information about your bids, invoices, payment etc.). You can also place advance bids while logged in: go to the lot you are interested in, choose your maximum bid and click Place bid.

To join a live auction in progress, click Enter room now. Accept our terms and you will enter the auction room with the live auction in progress. You can log in 30 minutes before the start to get familiar with how the live auction works and looks.

Remember that you must enter the room to take part in the live auction – do not stay on the advance-bidding pages.

During the auction, five lots are shown at a time. Each page of five lots takes around 40 seconds. Stay alert so you don't miss an item. When a new bid is placed, the bidding time for that lot is automatically extended by 20 seconds to give other bidders time to respond.

Everything happens automatically – all you need to do is click the bid button to place your bid. The system continuously shows the next bid level. NEW: Please note that you must also confirm your bid by clicking the same button once more (Confirm).

Your bid is binding, and you are told immediately whether it has been received. If your bid is high enough to lead, your bid amount and customer number are shown.

If two bids are equal, the bid registered first takes precedence. Always check that the winning bid is YOUR bid! Note that you cannot place a new bid while you hold the leading bid.

When the bidding time has counted down to 0 (zero), the lot is sold to the highest bidder or bought in by the auctioneer. Five new lots appear only once all five previous lots have been sold.

Good luck with your bidding!
